Conservation

The mission of Trout Unlimited is to conserve, protect and restore coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. Nutmeg chapter focuses primarily on trout streams in eastern Fairfield County, Connecticut, such as the Aspetuck, Mill, Pequonnock and Saugatuck rivers. Sometimes local rivers are affected by decisions made in Hartford, and when that happens we try to work with legislators, the DEEP and like-minded conservation organizations.

Partners

Nutmeg TU cannot restore and protect rivers and streams in without help. Partners such as the Aspetuck Land Trust, the Shelton Land Conservation Trust and the Nature Conservancy.

Projects

Ongoing projects by Nutmeg TU include clearing trash and invasive plants, then restoring native species along banks of the Mill River; drafting a plan for the general health of the Mill River; maintaining fishing areas along the Mill and Saugatuck rivers; and constantly looking for new sites that need a helping hand.
