The Aspetuck River is a beautiful stream that suffers from excessive water withdrawals during the warmest parts of the year. Access is also problematic, due to the fact that the majority of the river runs through private property — so use waders and don’t walk the banks.
Still, the river is beautiful and is featured in watercolors by the renowned artist James Prosek. Persistent anglers will also find wild brook and brown trout, which TU encourages be returned unharmed.
Trout Unlimited is America’s leading coldwater conservation organization. Our hope is that clean, cold, fishable water exists for generations to come, but we can’t do it without the support of committed anglers and conservationists like you.
