Mill River Restoration Ribbon Cutting

Dear Fellow Angler and Conservationist,

Phase 1 of Nutmeg TU’s Mill River restoration project has been completed, and we’re excited to see the new pools, riffles, spawning areas and other wild trout habitat come to life after years of planning and with your support and contributions!

To celebrate and show the community the river improvements we will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony and river walk on Saturday September 26th at 11:00, starting at the Covenant Church parking lot located at 1 Sport Hill Road in Easton. Bring your families and your fishing rods, and we’ll have a few fly rods on hand for demonstrations.

The nearly half-mile stretch of river being restored flows downstream along Congress Street in Easton and Fairfield. You will see eight new/enhanced pools, boulders, riffles and improved spawning habitat. We can’t wait to show you the impact you’ve helped make possible and will be hosting a streamside walk of the newly restored section. – please click here to RSVP.

While this is a significant step forward, we need your help to continue the important work. We will have trees to plant, more follow-up conservation events to plan, chapter community events to run, and much more in the coming weeks, months and years and are counting on your continued support to keep the momentum going from this great project. To that end, six Nutmeg Trout Unlimited board members have generously pledged to match all donations up to $4,500 to support these efforts.
